can yes, should is a whole other question. unless cleared by the vet a dog of 8 shouldnt be breed, but some broods from good healthy lines are in good enough shape and health at 8 that the vet will have no issue clearing them for breeding, though i seen a lot of broods same breed that really do not need too be breed as they are absoloutly not in good shape or health and are showing heavy signs.
